What We Believe

What We Believe

Bethany joyfully affirms that every person is a child of God. We recognize that we are all called to be one body with many members and that all are necessary for the health and well-being of the church body.

We welcome you, no matter...
  No matter your race, ethnicity, or heritage;
  No matter your relationship status: married, divorced, widowed, or single;
  No matter your sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression;
  No matter your socio-economic status;
  No matter your life circumstance;

You are welcome here. You matter.

We invite all people to join us in our journey of faith and service!

Bethany Lutheran Church is a proud member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), a family of over 4 million believers and 9,000 congregations across the USA. We are also part of the Lutheran World Federation, a global communion of 145 churches in the Lutheran tradition, representing over 72 million Christians in 98 countries. In 2017, Lutherans around the world celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, an on-going movement dedicated to ensuring that the worldwide church of Jesus Christ remains faithful to the central message of the Gospel: that God so loved the world that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ) to restore a fallen and sinful humanity back to friendship with God. We are saved from sin, death and the power of evil through our trust (faith) in God’s grace (undeserved love), and not because of our personal actions or goodness.

Freed from the need to secure our own salvation, Lutherans respond to God’s grace with joyful praise and thanksgiving, always ready to share the good news of God’s love with others, always ready to serve anyone in need with Christ-like compassion.
