Gospel Jazz Service in the Park - We are excited to offer a new "Gospel Jazz Service" at the band shell under the trees of Rice Lake City Park on Sunday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. Bethany Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran of Rice Lake will co-sponsor this service, which is open to the whole community. Pastors Russ Sorensen, Jeff Elmquist and Karen Johnson will share in leadership of the service with the wonderful Bethany Brass Quintet musicians and singers. This is a service that you will not want to miss! Why not invite your friends and neighbors to bring lawn chairs and come with you?

Following the "Gospel Jazz Service" on August 3, we look forward to having a potluck dinner together. Hotdogs, plates, forks and lemonade will be provided. You are invited to just bring a food dish to share with the feast!

Summer Film Festival
Tuesday Nights at 6:00 p.m. in the Gathering Room

August is the month for Bethany's first annual Summer Film Festival. Each Tuesday we will view good "family" films that are really fun and entertaining, but which also raise questions: Questions about the world and our place in it, questions about God and our relationship with God, questions about life and what it means. They are "family" films only in that they are films which everyone, people of all ages, can and will enjoy.

Making Faith Connections

Are you interested in getting together with others in a relaxed setting to build friendships and connect your faith with your life experiences? Then Bethany's "Making Faith Connections" ministry might be just right for you! Last year at Bethany, one hundred people enjoyed the opportunities provided in "Faith Connections" groups. There were singles, couples and people of a variety of ages. We are looking to add even more groups this fall. A group can be as small as two families meeting together with kids and parents having a great experience of growing together in faith across the generations!

This is the time of new beginnings for this once a month experience of meeting together with others in a small group setting. Meet at a time and place that works for all of you, at a restaurant, in a home, at church, etc. And spend an hour together connecting friends, faith and everyday life using a helpful study guide. Pastor Russ Sorensen will be meeting with study leaders each month to give resources, support and encouragement. Groups are forming now for the September start up of "Making Faith Connections."

If you would like to find out more about this effort, please come to one of the orientation sessions at Bethany on Sunday, August 24 at 9:00 a.m. between services or Wednesday, August 27 at 7:00 p.m. You may also contact Pastor Russ at rasorensen@chibardun.net or call the church office at 715-234-9028.
