February Welca News

01.22.21 | Newsletter | Gifts | Service | by Carol Stanonik

February 28 will be set aside in the WELCA year to honor Women Who Act Boldly. In the past, we’ve held services honoring different women who have stepped out in their faith. Here are some reminders of how these women accomplish this. They offer prayers (Prayer Chain members) for those needing some extra comfort during trying times in their lives.

Some serve by being mentors for Hospice patients, serve at funeral luncheons, read to shut-ins, make visits to shut-ins, sew quilts to help people stay warm, knit/crochet hats for newborns, collect items for various kits – sewing, health, newborn, school kits, etc. – that are sent around the world to help make someone’s life a little better. Some advocate for better care for residents in nursing home care, for helping victims of sex trafficking, show other women how to sew so they can have an income, for keeping women safe from violence and in many other ways, work with children at Boys & Girls Clubs.

Some offer hospitality by making sure our churches, schools and workplaces are welcoming places for all people. These women, whether famous or ordinary women like us, are making a difference in our homes, places of employment, our communities and our churches. Are you willing to make a difference in someone’s life? We can be disciples of our faith by being Bold Women.
